KEB Harmonic filters allow a user to comply with IEEE 519
power quality standards by reducing a VFD’s current distortion

HOW THEY WORK

 

VFDs CREATE HARMONIC DISTORTION

Any VFD using a bridge rectifier inherently draws harmonic current from the utility. 

The harmonic current draw causes voltage distortion on the mains which can create power quality issues for other electrical loads.

KEB HARMONIC FILTERS REDUCE DISTORTION

Using a harmonic filter with a VFD reduces the amount of harmonic current, therefore, the voltage distortion on the mains is reduced. 

DESIGNED TO TARGET VFD ASSOCIATED HARMONICS

KEB Harmonic filters are designed to reduce VFD-related harmonics – specifically, the 5th, 7th, and 11th harmonic orders.

A resettable manual overload is included with each filter.

EFFICIENT DESIGN

Typical efficiency is 99% at rated load. 

 

This is made possible by using high grade electrical steel and a high frequency coil winding configuration.

FLEXIBLE MOUNTING

The core and capacitor can be mounted separately (within 2 meters). 

This allows the filter package to be optimally placed in the control cabinet.

HIGH OVERLOAD

KEB filters are capable of 150% peak current for 60 seconds.

NEMA 1 ENCLOSURE

Optional standalone filter enclosures are available starting at sizes 230 A and above.

Capacitor Contactor

Disconnects capacitor network when filter is in an idle state.
